OPERATIONS DIVISION
Benjamin W. Morse
Acting Assistant Chief Operations
Savannah Fire and Emergency Services Operations Division responds to all calls for assistance falling into the Fire Bureau’s area of responsibility. Our highly trained firefighters respond to citizen’s calls for help involving fire suppression, hazardous materials mitigation, and technical rescue disciplines.
The Operations Division, the largest component of the Fire Bureau, provides the bulk of the staff to operate the Bureau’s fire prevention program, residential home fire safety checks, Learn Not to Burn program, and community fire prevention meetings.
The City of Savannah is growing in land area; with an expected increase in our population well into the future. The Operations Division is hiring firefighters at a rate to keep pace with Savannah’s growth and the subsequent increasing numbers of fire stations. Our goal is to continue to provide our traditional high quality services to Savannah and her visitors while experiencing historical growth.
Savannah Fire and Emergency Services currently operates with 326 total staff, 14 Fire Engines, 6 Ladder Trucks, 2 Heavy Rescues, 3 Battalions, and 15 fire stations.
Chief Morse is a 21 year veteran of SFES. He is a Savannah native and a retired Georgia Army National Guardsman. Chief Morse began his fire services career at SFES Station 5 on W.
